New York City has always had a strong presence and reputation worldwide. Known affectionately as the 'Big Apple', it is crammed with tall building, large corporations, trendy fashion, buzzing nightlife, and is bustling city life personified. It is also home to some of the most famous landmarks and places in the world.

There is an enormous amount to see and do in New York: some of its most famous landmarks include the Chrysler Building, the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, and the Empire State Building. Some of its landmark places include Times Square, Central Park and JFK airport. The setting for many a blockbuster movie, the city houses some of the finest restaurants and museums in the world and offers a wide variety of entertainment.

Home to a wide range of people from many different ethnic backgrounds, this city is steeped in culture and history. With various areas covering many different cultures, such as Chinatown, Soho, and the East and West Villages, the city is truly a real mix of cultures and backgrounds from every corner of the globe.

In New York City, you will find all manner of entertainment on offer…

From Broadway shows and parades, to museums and historical sites, to bars, clubs and restaurants. There are many hotels lining the streets of this city, and prices to suit every budget from hostels and B&Bs to five star luxury. The city accommodates every palate and wallet, and whatever type of dish you are looking for you are almost certain to find it in one of the city's many eateries: from subway sandwiches and hot-dogs, to sushi and pizza, to fine cuisine and three-course dinners… it's all here in New York. As you would expect in an industry focussed city, the availability of public transport is excellent and getting around the city is no problem. New York, often referred to as the capital of the world, is at the forefront of everything, from business to fashion, from food to entertainment, from landmarks to culture. It is no wonder that it is known as 'the city that never sleeps'.

Shopping in New York is an amazing experience.

With an array of world-famous boutiques and department stores, you can shop till you drop (literally) in this city. This is kind of city where you can pick up designer names and top fashion items during your extensive shopping spree, stop to do lunch in a top, trendy restaurant, go back to your conveniently located hotel to get ready, and then step out to catch a show or hit the bars and clubs. Rich, colorful, and hyperactive are but a few words that describe the experience that is New York.

One recent event that did bring this bold and buzzing city to its knees was the terrorist attack on the twin towers of the World Trade Center on September 11th 2001. As devastating as this attack was, the people of New York proved that this is a city that will not be easily beaten by showing unity and determination throughout this horrific period. Even after the destruction of thousands of lives and the globally famous twin towers, New York continues to thrive and move forward.
