Florida Vacations: Everything you could want to know; where to stay, eat, play & do.

Nicknamed 'The Sunshine State', Florida is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Renowned for its sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, glorious weather, theme parks and entertainment, the state is home to a rich mix of cultures and activities, which is part of the reason for its worldwide popularity as a number one holiday destination.

The state is split up into eight regions: the Northwest region, North Central, Northeast, Central, Central West, Central East, Southwest and Southeast. Each of these regions houses well-known cities and destinations, all offering a variety of entertainment and culture for visitors.

A firm favorite with celebrities, Miami is located in the Southeast region. Here you will find the world-famous Miami Beach, as well as Palm Beach with its million-dollar hotels and mansion developments. The miles of sandy beaches and coastline, make Miami a popular destination.

The Florida Keys are another popular tourist destination, located in the South of Florida.

Again, boasting crystal clear waters and golden beaches which attract droves of visitors each year. Selected as the state's capital in 1823, Tallahassee is also located in the Southern region. Known for its landscapes and forests, you will find the climate here a little cooler. The historical cities of Jacksonville and St Augustine are both located in the Northeast of Florida, and visitors can delight in exploring the culture and history in which these cities are steeped.

Daytona, another destination that is famous for its beach, is located in the Central East region, and the Central West region is home to the cities of Tampa and St Petersburgh, and the Blue Gulf houses Anna Marie Island, Longboat Key, Bradenton Beach, and Holmes Beach. The region's capital is Sarasota, another destination that is rich in culture. Naples is a hit with tourists who enjoy fishing and golfing, as well as being a popular seaside destination. This lies in the Southwest. Marco Island is situated just off the mainland.

Perhaps the most famous destination of all in this popular state is Orlando.

Home to some of the world's biggest and most famous theme parks and attractions, millions of people flock to Orlando every year. Here you will find International Drive, a haven of hotels, restaurants and bars as well as a variety of outlets and malls for those who love to shop.

Apart from its trademark theme parks and entertainment, Florida boasts many lakes, islands, forests, cities, historical sites and places of interest. This state caters for all tastes: it is an excellent holiday destination, and a particular favorite with families who are looking for solid fun and entertainment. The miles of coastline and clear waters are also world famous. Accommodation is Florida is reasonable and plentiful, and both car hire and public transport will allow visitors to explore their chosen state. With its colorful culture and excellent reputation, as well as historical sites, entertainment, and glorious weather, this state has proven to be a hit with tourists across the globe.
